Ashok Belani

Chairman of the Board, Genvia

Ashok Belani is Chairman of the Board, Genvia. He previously held the position of Executive Vice President at Schlumberger New Energy. Belani held the responsibility for the development and deployment of differentiated technologies addressing new avenues of growth in emerging New Energy markets. The Schlumberger New Energy organization includes: early ventures for investing in businesses with the potential for new energy technology development; adjacent businesses for leveraging Schlumberger’s expertise in oil and gas through subsurface characterization and drilling activities; and new energy deployments that focus on new domains and associated business opportunities. Prior to that assignement, Belani served from 2011 to 2019 as executive vice president Technology, where he was responsible for Schlumberger Research, Engineering, Manufacturing, Technology Lifecycle Management, Software Technology, and Information Technology. For the last 14 years, since its establishment, he also managed the corporate venture department for SLB. Belani joined Schlumberger as a field engineer in 1980 and worked for 10 years in different field positions in operations, sales, and management. He then transferred to product development and held positions in engineering, marketing and technique, and technology management. He later held the position of chief information officer of Schlumberger Limited. Between 2000 and 2004, Belani managed the Schlumberger semiconductor equipment business in California, where he led a leveraged buyout to a private equity firm, listed the company on Nasdaq as CEO, and then sold it to Credence Systems. Belani studied electrical engineering IIT New Delhi and holds a graduate degree in petroleum engineering from Stanford University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Gentari, a global New Energy firm affiliated with Petronas, and also on the Boards of Enervenue, a stationary storage technology company, and Gradiant Systems, a water solutions company. He is also a member of the Board of A*STAR, the governing agency for all science and technology for the Government of Singapore.
